Alexandra and Craig wed in a winter romance celebration at the historic Gabbinbar Homestead whose traditional Queenslander architecture captured the couple’s attention. Bride Alexandra wore a Jennifer Regan Valentina couture gown with hand-draped French beaded lace overlay.
How did he propose?
Towards the end of a 6 week road trip camping from Sydney to Cape York and back, we stopped at Airlie Beach where we had met nearly 7 years prior. It was here that he got down on one knee and proposed right near the same spot where we had first met all those years ago.
What was the theme of your wedding?
Opting for a Winter Romance themed wedding, the colour palette highlighted rich jewel tones with hints of gold detailing. The bridal bouquet featured romantic and rambling burgundy peonies, blush pink roses lush foliage. Alexandra’s bridesmaid complemented this Winter Romance palette with navy blue tea dresses and fur stoles.
What was the most memorable moment of your day?
There are so many moments throughout the day that come to mind when that question is asked! However a real stand out moment in the night would have to be when we surprised everyone with fireworks when we cut the cake. The reception was in a conservatory where the ceiling was made of glass so everyone just had to look up from where they were sitting and see the fountains of fireworks above their heads and streaming down the windows. It was a beautiful sight to see and although there are so many memorable moments for us as the bride and groom, it was really fun and exciting being able to surprise all of our guests!
How was your experience with Jennifer?
I honestly cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Jennifer. She had all the time in the world for me from beginning to end and was exceptional in helping me to find the dress that was perfect for my figure and personal style. I really enjoyed my fittings with her as she made them as easy and stress free as possible and knowing that all the alterations were done on the premises really added to that peace of mind. Jennifer is an absolute expert in her field and not only is she incredible at what she does, her calming and friendly nature make the whole process a breeze.
Do you have any suggestions for other brides?
Organisation is key. Make sure you research and book your vendors in advance so that you can have exactly what you want and so that you don’t have to worry about these things as the wedding gets closer. This will make it a much more stress free experience. Most importantly, enjoy your time with your new husband on the day! Make time to be with each other as much as possible as this day is so special for both of you – you have just become husband and wife! The day goes so fast so you want to remember all the moments you shared together, not worrying about everything else that is going on.
